How to Use Papaya for Skin Whitening?

Papaya is one of the most powerful natural sources of skin whitening compounds. It’s also inexpensive, easy to get from your local grocery store, and really tasty!

Another great thing about papaya is that there are several different ways to receive its healthful benefits. This article will discuss those methods, along with all of the reasons why papaya is so effective at skin whitening.

Using Papayas to Clean from the Inside

You’re probably heard the phrase “you are what you eat”, right? It’s one of the simplest, but true cliché statements that has ever been said.

If you eat a lot of junk food, your body will be overweight, lacking vitamins and minerals, and generally unhealthy. Your skin will probably have acne, scars, and create wrinkles at a young age.

Meanwhile, people with healthy diets (lots of fruits and veggies) tend to be healthier and happier. They have clear skin, clear minds, and don’t get sick very often.

Eating papayas is so effective for skin whitening because they help your skin become healthier from the inside. They do this by improving digestion and boosting your immune system. They also offer a lot of Vitamins A and C, which are both effective at whitening the skin.

Using Papayas on the Outside

Papayas contain an enzyme called papain. Papain is useful for healing the inside of the body, but also helps heal and whiten skin when directly applied. The best way to do this is to apply small slices of the fruit- or just the juice- to the area of skin that you would like to be lighter. You may apply it up to 4 times per day.

Another thing to try is papaya skin whitening soap. Green papayas make the best soaps, but any papaya will do.  These soaps work well because they allow the papain to exfoliate the skin, reducing melanin and removing dead skin cells.

Papaya Face Masks

In addition to eating papayas or using them in soaps, you can also try a papaya face mask. There are several different “recipes” for them, but given here are two of the simplest face masks:

  1. Peel a ripe papaya. Remove the seeds and chop the papaya into small pieces. Then place it in a blender, and blend until smooth.
  2. Follow the steps above, but combine the papaya with raw, natural honey before blending. The honey helps remove skin blemishes such as scars or age spots.

Spread the mask on with the tips of your fingers, massaging it into the skin of your face softly. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes (only 10 minutes with plain papaya), then rinse off with warm water. Pat dry with a soft towel- don’t rub.

Note that this makes your skin more sensitive, so don’t apply makeup or rub the skin too hard immediately afterwards.

Papayas… Miracle Fruits?

Even though papayas are extremely healthy and effective at whitening the skin, we want to point out that they are not miracle fruits. The lightening effects are not permanent, and once you stop using the papayas on a regular basis, your skin will gradually darken.

This happens with any whitening product or method, but we still wanted to make sure that was clear.

We also wanted to point out that whitening your skin with papayas is a gradual process that takes time. Don’t expect to see results within just a few days. Instead, expect to give it several weeks before you see major changes.

What Works Best to Whiten Skin?

Even though papayas work well, we don’t recommend them as your number one choice. Instead, we’ve found that an effective, natural cream like Epibright is the best solution. There are multiple reasons for this, which we cover in our Epibright review found on our homepage.

Note that you can also combine papayas with Epibright. Simply use Epibright on the outside (applying it to your skin), while eating at least half of a papaya every day to help brighten your skin from the inside.
