Skin Whitening Injection
Most skin whitening products are applied topically to the skin. They gradually lighten the skin by either stripping away the upper most layers or by penetrating the dermis and disrupting the production of melanin. However, there are some treatments that are designed to work from the inside out and skin whitening injections is one of them.
What are Skin Whitening Injections?
The active ingredient in skin whitening injections is glutathione, which is a powerful antioxidant. It is so powerful, in fact, that it is used to combat a variety of diseases like cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, and HIV. In the beauty industry, however, it is well-known for its skin whitening attributes. It acts much like hydroquinone in that it disrupts the production of melanin.
While glutathione is available in pill form, many people prefer to use injections because much of the antioxidant is lost during the digestive process when taken orally. The antioxidant comes in vials and the person injects a certain amount of it every three days. Once the initial set is completed, you must continue to inject yourself with the substance at least once or twice a month to maintain the results.
Does It Work?
Yes. Skin whitening injections do work. Many people get whiter skin within a month or two, but this varies based on each individual’s physiology. In addition to lighter skin, many people also report softer skin, less acne, and a reduction in blemishes and other discolorations. However, these beauty benefits do come with a cost.
Glutathione can cause side effects such as:
- Upset stomach
- Is fatal in excessive amounts
- Many skin whitening injections also contain tranexamic acid which can cause liver failure.
To prevent these consequences, the injections are typically dosed according to how much the person weighs. For skin whitening, the recommended dosage is 20 to 40 mg per kilogram of body weight.
This skin whitening product can also make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. If you use it, you should avoid the sun as much as possible and use sunscreen when you do go outside.
Skin Whitening Injection in USA
Skin whitening injections are primarily sold in Asian countries like Taiwan, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. However, you can get it in the United States through online retailers. Since glutathione is an antioxidant, it may be possible to get the injections from a dermatologist or other medical professionals. The chances of this happening, though, are very low.
